![]() ![]() Readers will enjoy spotting characters from other books and recognizing key elements of the original fairy tale while enjoying the new twist. Each story in this new picture book series focuses on a different fairy tale character, a different strength or core virtue, and a challenge to overcome, often with the help of their friends. The Fairytale Friends series brings fairy tales into the modern day and features scenarios that young children can relate to and learn from. I've left out the two prequel foundation books that Asimov wrote. Think of Susan Calvin and the Mule and you may see my point. This may sound odd, as the robot and Foundation tales are meant to illustrate great sweeps of history, but in my opinion, the strongest tales here are those that are small and intimate. This allows one to emphasize the building of themes within the books, rather than individual plot threads.Īt their heart, these stories work best when they focus on individual people. The series was never quite finished, so I feel that a non-linear approach is the best choice here. Here's the order I think makes the most sense for maximum enjoyment of the books. I think that neither published order nor chronological order quite does the series justice. ![]() 6/26/2023 0 Comments Yoga dipika![]() lyengar's own photo-illustrated step-by-step guides to every yoga routine.Week-by-week lyengar Yoga development plan - with a total of 300 weeks to allow gradual progression from novice to advanced technique.B.K.S. ![]() Now, in a new larger format edition so it's easier to use than ever before, Light on Yoga remains a delight for anyone interested in yoga, and the essential guide for everyone - from the complete beginner to the highly advanced student.Light on Yoga includes:B.K.S. ![]() Since then, the book has become recognized as a classic and its author a much loved, internationally celebrated yoga master. Many thousands of people have learned to make yoga part of daily life using Light on Yoga. ![]() It is now nearly 30 years since Light on Yoga brought yoga to a Western audience for the first time. ![]() 6/26/2023 0 Comments Don juan by lord byron![]() Alfonso finds them in bed together, so she goes to a nunnery, and Juan (Canto II) gets shipped off east from Cadiz. The book makes it clear that Steve Wozniak is a very smart man and a great computer innovator especially as calculators, video games and computers were beginning and evolving very quickly in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Steve, as many people know, is one of the founders of Apple Computers and the designer of the very popular Apple II computer, the first personal computer to sell over 1 million. Steve Wozniak’s autobiography, iWoz, is not only an interesting account of his life, but also a good history of the early days of personal computers. ![]() It was the first time in history anyone had typed a character on a keyboard and seen it show up on their own computer’s screen right in front to them.” “I didn’t realize it at the time, but that day, Sunday, Jwas pivotal. The characters were really well developed and even when they made bad choices or the storyline took an unexpected turn, it was still hard to hate them. The plot took so many twists and turns that even 1600ish pages went quickly. The story in the Bible only gives us a few short paragraphs where Liz Curtis Higgs unfolds the story over 3 books at about 1600 pages, so she’s got plenty of room for creative liberty, while still maintaining Biblical themes of love, forgiveness, and truth. ![]() It’s set in 1800ish in the Scottish Lowlands and it is beautifully written. It is no exaggeration to say that Blade Runner has come to serve as a sort of touchstone for what has come to be associated with the terms “cyberpunk” and “posthumanism,” anticipating to an uncanny degree the numerous issues explored by science fiction novels, films, manga, and anime that have followed in its wake. Despite an initially lukewarm reception by critics and audiences when it was first released in June 1982, Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner has gone on to become one of the most influential cyberpunk films of all time. ![]() 6/24/2023 0 Comments Maphead book![]() In 12 chapters, Jennings not only reflects upon the many forms of map and geography fetish, he also presents insight on the opposite–the often dismaying and sometimes hilarious geographic illiteracy of college students and beauty queens. Maphead is about maps and the people who love them, and–in some cases–who build their lives around various forms of graphic depiction of our world. But Jennings isn’t just a fast-handed font of trivia, he writes nonfiction that is approachable, intriguing, and displays a good sense of humor. In a sad commentary TV’s popularity, you may only know Ken Jennings from his record winning streak on Jeopardy, and the books he’s written since then may have escaped your attention. ![]() Maphead: Charting the Wide, Weird World of Geography Wonks by Ken Jennings ![]() |
